batch_evaluate_geofences
(**kwargs)¶Evaluates device positions against the geofence geometries from a given geofence collection.
This operation always returns an empty response because geofences are asynchronously evaluated. The evaluation determines if the device has entered or exited a geofenced area, and then publishes one of the following events to Amazon EventBridge:
ENTER
if Amazon Location determines that the tracked device has entered a geofenced area.EXIT
if Amazon Location determines that the tracked device has exited a geofenced area.Note
The last geofence that a device was observed within is tracked for 30 days after the most recent device position update.
Note
Geofence evaluation uses the given device position. It does not account for the optional Accuracy
of a DevicePositionUpdate
.
Note
The DeviceID
is used as a string to represent the device. You do not need to have a Tracker
associated with the DeviceID
.

batch_put_geofence
(**kwargs)¶A batch request for storing geofence geometries into a given geofence collection, or updates the geometry of an existing geofence if a geofence ID is included in the request.
See also: AWS API Documentation
Request Syntax
response = client.batch_put_geofence(

}
},
]
)
[REQUIRED]
The geofence collection storing the geofences.
[REQUIRED]
The batch of geofences to be stored in a geofence collection.
Contains geofence geometry details.
The identifier for the geofence to be stored in a given geofence collection.
Contains the details of the position of the geofence. Can be either a polygon or a circle. Including both will return a validation error.
Note
Each geofence polygon can have a maximum of 1,000 vertices.
A circle on the earth, as defined by a center point and a radius.
A single point geometry, specifying the center of the circle, using WGS 84 coordinates, in the form [longitude, latitude]
.
The radius of the circle in meters. Must be greater than zero and no larger than 100,000 (100 kilometers).
A polygon is a list of linear rings which are each made up of a list of vertices.
Each vertex is a 2-dimensional point of the form: [longitude, latitude]
. This is represented as an array of doubles of length 2 (so [double, double]
).
An array of 4 or more vertices, where the first and last vertex are the same (to form a closed boundary), is called a linear ring. The linear ring vertices must be listed in counter-clockwise order around the ring’s interior. The linear ring is represented as an array of vertices, or an array of arrays of doubles ( [[double, double], ...]
).
A geofence consists of a single linear ring. To allow for future expansion, the Polygon parameter takes an array of linear rings, which is represented as an array of arrays of arrays of doubles ( [[[double, double], ...], ...]
).
A linear ring for use in geofences can consist of between 4 and 1,000 vertices.

batch_update_device_position
(**kwargs)¶Uploads position update data for one or more devices to a tracker resource. Amazon Location uses the data when it reports the last known device position and position history. Amazon Location retains location data for 30 days.
Note
Position updates are handled based on the PositionFiltering
property of the tracker. When PositionFiltering
is set to TimeBased
, updates are evaluated against linked geofence collections, and location data is stored at a maximum of one position per 30 second interval. If your update frequency is more often than every 30 seconds, only one update per 30 seconds is stored for each unique device ID.
When PositionFiltering
is set to DistanceBased
filtering, location data is stored and evaluated against linked geofence collections only if the device has moved more than 30 m (98.4 ft).
When PositionFiltering
is set to AccuracyBased
filtering, location data is stored and evaluated against linked geofence collections only if the device has moved more than the measured accuracy. For example, if two consecutive updates from a device have a horizontal accuracy of 5 m and 10 m, the second update is neither stored or evaluated if the device has moved less than 15 m. If PositionFiltering
is set to AccuracyBased
filtering, Amazon Location uses the default value { "Horizontal": 0}
when accuracy is not provided on a DevicePositionUpdate
.

calculate_route
(**kwargs)¶Calculates a route given the following required parameters:DeparturePosition
andDestinationPosition
. Requires that you first create a route calculator resource.
By default, a request that doesn't specify a departure time uses the best time of day to travel with the best traffic conditions when calculating the route.
Additional options include:
DepartureTime
or DepartNow
. This calculates a route based on predictive traffic data at the given time.Note
You can't specify both DepartureTime
and DepartNow
in a single request. Specifying both parameters returns a validation error.
CarModeOptions
if traveling by Car
, or TruckModeOptions
if traveling by Truck
.Note
If you specify walking
for the travel mode and your data provider is Esri, the start and destination must be within 40km.

calculate_route_matrix
(**kwargs)¶Calculates a route matrix given the following required parameters:DeparturePositions
andDestinationPositions
.CalculateRouteMatrix
calculates routes and returns the travel time and travel distance from each departure position to each destination position in the request. For example, given departure positions A and B, and destination positions X and Y,CalculateRouteMatrix
will return time and distance for routes from A to X, A to Y, B to X, and B to Y (in that order). The number of results returned (and routes calculated) will be the number ofDeparturePositions
times the number ofDestinationPositions
.
Note
Your account is charged for each route calculated, not the number of requests.
Requires that you first create a route calculator resource.
By default, a request that doesn't specify a departure time uses the best time of day to travel with the best traffic conditions when calculating routes.
Additional options include:
DepartureTime
or DepartNow
. This calculates routes based on predictive traffic data at the given time.Note
You can't specify both DepartureTime
and DepartNow
in a single request. Specifying both parameters returns a validation error.
CarModeOptions
if traveling by Car
, or TruckModeOptions
if traveling by Truck
.See also: AWS API Documentation

(**kwargs)¶Creates a tracker resource in your Amazon Web Services account, which lets you retrieve current and historical location of devices.
See also: AWS API Documentation
Request Syntax
response = client.create_tracker(
Description='string',
KmsKeyId='string',
PositionFiltering='TimeBased'|'DistanceBased'|'AccuracyBased',
PricingPlan='RequestBasedUsage'|'MobileAssetTracking'|'MobileAssetManagement',
PricingPlanDataSource='string',
Tags={
'string': 'string'
},
TrackerName='string'
)
Specifies the position filtering for the tracker resource.
Valid values:
TimeBased
- Location updates are evaluated against linked geofence collections, but not every location update is stored. If your update frequency is more often than 30 seconds, only one update per 30 seconds is stored for each unique device ID.DistanceBased
- If the device has moved less than 30 m (98.4 ft), location updates are ignored. Location updates within this area are neither evaluated against linked geofence collections, nor stored. This helps control costs by reducing the number of geofence evaluations and historical device positions to paginate through. Distance-based filtering can also reduce the effects of GPS noise when displaying device trajectories on a map.AccuracyBased
- If the device has moved less than the measured accuracy, location updates are ignored. For example, if two consecutive updates from a device have a horizontal accuracy of 5 m and 10 m, the second update is ignored if the device has moved less than 15 m. Ignored location updates are neither evaluated against linked geofence collections, nor stored. This can reduce the effects of GPS noise when displaying device trajectories on a map, and can help control your costs by reducing the number of geofence evaluations.This field is optional. If not specified, the default value is TimeBased
.
RequestBasedUsage
.Applies one or more tags to the tracker resource. A tag is a key-value pair helps manage, identify, search, and filter your resources by labelling them.

Status (string) --

operation can be paginated, you can use the
call client.get_paginator("create_foo")
.client.can_paginate
method to
check if an operation is pageable.get_place
(**kwargs)¶Finds a place by its unique ID. A PlaceId
is returned by other search operations.
Note
A PlaceId is valid only if all of the following are the same in the original search request and the call to GetPlace
.
See also: AWS API Documentation
Request Syntax
response = client.get_place(
IndexName='string',
Language='string',
PlaceId='string'
)
[REQUIRED]
The name of the place index resource that you want to use for the search.
The preferred language used to return results. The value must be a valid BCP 47 language tag, for example, en
for English.
This setting affects the languages used in the results, but not the results themselves. If no language is specified, or not supported for a particular result, the partner automatically chooses a language for the result.
For an example, we'll use the Greek language. You search for a location around Athens, Greece, with the language
parameter set to en
. The city
in the results will most likely be returned as Athens
.
If you set the language
parameter to el
, for Greek, then the city
in the results will more likely be returned as Αθήνα
.
If the data provider does not have a value for Greek, the result will be in a language that the provider does support.
[REQUIRED]
The identifier of the place to find.

put_geofence
(**kwargs)¶Stores a geofence geometry in a given geofence collection, or updates the geometry of an existing geofence if a geofence ID is included in the request.
See also: AWS API Documentation
Request Syntax
response = client.put_geofence(
CollectionName='string',
GeofenceId='string',
Geometry={
'Circle': {
'Center': [
123.0,
],
'Radius': 123.0
},
'Polygon': [
[
[
123.0,
],
],
]
}
)
[REQUIRED]
The geofence collection to store the geofence in.
[REQUIRED]
An identifier for the geofence. For example, ExampleGeofence-1
.
[REQUIRED]
Contains the details to specify the position of the geofence.
To allow for future expansion, the Polygon parameter takes an array of linear rings, which is represented as an array of arrays of arrays of doubles ( [[[double, double], ...], ...]
).
A linear ring for use in geofences can consist of between 4 and 1,000 vertices.

search_place_index_for_position
(**kwargs)¶Reverse geocodes a given coordinate and returns a legible address. Allows you to search for Places or points of interest near a given position.
See also: AWS API Documentation
Request Syntax
response = client.search_place_index_for_position(
IndexName='string',
Language='string',
MaxResults=123,
Position=[
123.0,
]
)
[REQUIRED]
The name of the place index resource you want to use for the search.
An optional parameter. The maximum number of results returned per request.
Default value: 50
[REQUIRED]
Specifies the longitude and latitude of the position to query.
This parameter must contain a pair of numbers. The first number represents the X coordinate, or longitude; the second number represents the Y coordinate, or latitude.
For example, [-123.1174, 49.2847]
represents a position with longitude -123.1174
and latitude 49.2847
.

operation to find the place again later.
Note
For SearchPlaceIndexForText
operations, the PlaceId
is returned only by place indexes that use HERE or Grab as a data provider.
Relevance (float) --
The relative confidence in the match for a result among the results returned. For example, if more fields for an address match (including house number, street, city, country/region, and postal code), the relevance score is closer to 1.
Returned only when the partner selected is Esri or Grab.
Summary (dict) --
Contains a summary of the request. Echoes the input values for BiasPosition
, FilterBBox
, FilterCountries
, Language
, MaxResults
, and Text
. Also includes the DataSource
of the place index and the bounding box, ResultBBox
, which surrounds the search results.
BiasPosition (list) --
Contains the coordinates for the optional bias position specified in the request.
This parameter contains a pair of numbers. The first number represents the X coordinate, or longitude; the second number represents the Y coordinate, or latitude.
For example, [-123.1174, 49.2847]
represents the position with longitude -123.1174
and latitude 49.2847
.
DataSource (string) --
The geospatial data provider attached to the place index resource specified in the request. Values can be one of the following:
For more information about data providers, see Amazon Location Service data providers.
FilterBBox (list) --
Contains the coordinates for the optional bounding box specified in the request.
FilterCountries (list) --
Contains the optional country filter specified in the request.
Language (string) --
The preferred language used to return results. Matches the language in the request. The value is a valid BCP 47 language tag, for example, en
for English.
MaxResults (integer) --
Contains the optional result count limit specified in the request.
ResultBBox (list) --
The bounding box that fully contains all search results.
Note
If you specified the optional FilterBBox
parameter in the request, ResultBBox
is contained within FilterBBox
.
Text (string) --
The search text specified in the request.

tag_resource
(**kwargs)¶Assigns one or more tags (key-value pairs) to the specified Amazon Location Service resource.
Tags can help you organize and categorize your resources. You can also use them to scope user permissions, by granting a user permission to access or change only resources with certain tag values.
You can use the TagResource
operation with an Amazon Location Service resource that already has tags. If you specify a new tag key for the resource, this tag is appended to the tags already associated with the resource. If you specify a tag key that's already associated with the resource, the new tag value that you specify replaces the previous value for that tag.
You can associate up to 50 tags with a resource.

Description='string',
PositionFiltering='TimeBased'|'DistanceBased'|'AccuracyBased',
PricingPlan='RequestBasedUsage'|'MobileAssetTracking'|'MobileAssetManagement',
PricingPlanDataSource='string',
TrackerName='string'
)
Updates the position filtering for the tracker resource.
Location updates within this distance are neither evaluated against linked geofence collections, nor stored.
This helps educe the effects of GPS noise when displaying device trajectories on a map, and can help control costs by reducing the number of geofence evaluations.RequestBasedUsage

Circle (dict) --
A circle on the earth, as defined by a center point and a radius.
Center (list) --
A single point geometry, specifying the center of the circle, using WGS 84 coordinates, in the form [longitude, latitude]
.
Radius (float) --
The radius of the circle in meters. Must be greater than zero and no larger than 100,000 (100 kilometers).
Polygon (list) --
A polygon is a list of linear rings which are each made up of a list of vertices.
Status (string) --
Identifies the state of the geofence. A geofence will hold one of the following states:
ACTIVE
— The geofence has been indexed by the system.PENDING
— The geofence is being processed by the system.FAILED
— The geofence failed to be indexed by the system.DELETED
— The geofence has been deleted from the system index.DELETING
— The geofence is being deleted from the system index.UpdateTime (datetime) --
